First Christmas card.....

using some design paper I have had for ages...and could never get it to work on a project.
However I am pleased with the finished result....and have now got all of my Christmas goodies out of their boxes ready for a few weeks of enjoyable card making.

As you can see I have finally managed to get myself an embossing mat to use with my BigShot...and I love the effect. I am not sure why I have not got round to it before....but I can assure you it will now get well used...even my Husband commented that I was using certain embossed dies on all my cards lately..oops!

Card Supplies:

Card blank, Ribbon,DP, button are from my stash.
Lace is from my Mum's stash.
Bling is Papercellar.
Border was cut from Edgeabilities.
Corner is a Marianne's Creatable die cut.
Flowers are punched using Woodware punch.
BigShot.

Card Challenges.

Paper Play Challenge : Choose a Holiday.

Have a lovely week....I am preparing for a visit to Torquay. Hopefully Mum will be moving into her new apartment...I can't wait to soak up that view.

Hugs,
Sandra

Oh so cool...

the weather that is....but I also think this little chica is too!!!

The mornings and evenings are now wonderful, cooler with a breeze, and I am back to crafting again.

I love this image...she is called Audrey, but for some reason I cannot find out where I got her from..if any of my blogger friends recognise her do let me know as I like to acknowledge artist's work where possible.

I sent off for a few dies during the summer so thought I would start with them on this card. It was difficult to remember to stop at times!!

Thanks for popping by,
Have a wonderful week,

Finally.....

it has cooled down enough for me to make a card.
Gosh, it has been a hot, sticky summer. I have also been busy helping Mum move house which went very well. She is now staying with Naomi and Grant whilst Grant puts in a new bathroom and kitchen. He is working so hard,I am very grateful to him.

I feel very rusty with crafting but loved the gentle tones of this card.

Hopefully I will be back again next week with another card....it all depends on the temperatures!!!

Things with wings..

at Ruby's Rainbow Challenge this week.

Do pop over and have a look at the design team's creations.

Well I am now back in Spain after a very hectic 2 weeks in Torquay and Cornwall.
I spent a couple of days with Mum sorting her craft room...it was so hard for her to get rid of items she has enjoyed using over the years but she did really well.

Naomi and Grant's Salon Anniversary evening was brilliant and they raised over 400 pound for Rowcroft Hospice. They have worked so hard and I am extremely proud of them. I wish I knew how to put a photo from Facebook onto here...perhaps I will manage it later!!!

My card this week is my attempt at Less is more...yeh I know I have various layers but I am really pleased with it. It is so hard not to keep adding things isn't it!

Card Supplies:

Paper: Lucy Cromwell do crafts.
Card and dragonfly stamps from my stash. Sorry I do not know the stamps as they are some Mum had and were not in the packet.
Inks: Brilliance Pearlescent Ice Blue and Memento Black.
Thank you stamp: Papermania.
Pearls: Dovecraft.
Glitter pen: Sakura Clear star.

Welcome to all my new followers. I will draw the candy in the next couple of days and hopefully visit all of your blogs. Thank you for your encouraging comments...they are really appreciated.

Have a wonderful week,

I am in the UK...

but have scheduled this post....hopefully!

Ruby's Rainbow Challenge this week is a Sketch. I love sketches for when my mojo is on holiday....go on give it a go, it's fun!

I had already made a card for this challenge...but had forgotten to take the photo. Some of you already know where I am going with this story don't you because you have done it yourseves! Last week a friend needed a card quickly so I gladly let her have it...and then couldn't find the photo when I went to do this post....so anyway this is my 2nd version of the Sketch!!

I used card and paper from my stash. The flowers are WOF...I think. The edge was cut with an EK sucess punch called Arched Scroll. The image was given to me, by my dear friend Jo, and was coloured with my Promarkers.

Welcome to my new followers...not long now before I can draw the winner of my blog candy.

I may not be around for a few days as I am off to the UK to see my lovely Mum and dear Daughter.

Have a wonderful week,
Sandra

DT Card for Challenge at Ruby's Rainbow ..

and this week it's Pink and Brown....my favourite combination at the moment! I do admire all my friends who seem to make so many cards during the week.I have to confess that by the time evening comes I usually only have the energy to float through blogland. However I do plan and design them at all hours of the day...and night...it's amazing how many cards I make in my sleep!

The lace is from my Mum's stash...I am off on another visit in a few weeks time and hope to bring somemore back in my case. I now fly with another airline purely for the extra luggage space!

Love....John 3:16...

is one of my favourite bible verses...and I just wanted to use it on this card.

It took me ages to work out how to get the correct combination for the die cuts but I eventually got the effect I was after...and it is one of those cards that I enjoy looking at.

Now I have the prototype it is a card I will put in my `quickie` box and then I can adapt it for so many occasions...Sympathy, Get Well, Thank yous, as well as Birthdays etc ..all in different colours.

Red, White and Blue...

for this Men's card.
The girls at the card class are always asking for inspiration for Men's cards.I don't find them particularly troublesome...I just prefer making ¨pretty¨ cards.

I bought a piece of wrapping paper ages ago which had 3 images and this is one of them...sadly I have now used it all up but it lasted for ages, one of my crafting bargains I think!

I love motor bikes and have always regretted not having the spare cash to have one....but who knows what the future brings...I can't win the Lottery though because I don't do it.

On a more serious note it has been quite a hard week at the Reachout Centre...I did a home visit on Monday that was very upsetting...it is so sad seeing how people have to live when hard times prevent them from working etc. The poor man is collecting cardboard to take to a recycling centre to try and raise money to help provide for his baby who is waiting for an operation on its brain...sobering times. I thank God every day for His goodness and His compassion.

Card Supplies:
Card - Ollie Doodles, Costa Blanca.
Backing paper - stash.
Raffia - Casa.
Sentiment circle cut using Spellbinders and BigShot.
Sentiment - Craftwork Cards.

Ruby's Rainbow Challenge Design card...

features one of my passions this week....chocolate.

As soon as I saw these Kanban images I knew I had to have them...they are also in my favourite colours at the moment...pink and brown. Yes I know I did another pink and brown card a few weeks ago but what can I say!!!

Actually this card is quite similar to that other one. I showed it to my card class girls and they wanted to make one so this is the version they will be attempting next Friday. I love the thought of the comments as they try to tie the doublebow!!!

I hope you have had a wonderful Easter...the service this morning at church was so thought provoking ...imagine Jesus dying to save each one of us...wow.

My sewing machine hates me...

but I was determined to have a go at sewing on a card....and this is my first effort.

Actually all sewing machines hate me...and I hate sewing which is rather strange as my Mother was a trained tailoress...she used to design and make wonderful creations. I love knitting, cross stitch etc but not sewing. I think my aversion came because if I wanted to sew anything Mum always made me use a pattern, measure it, chalk the pleats, pin it, tack it and then sew it...I was always too eager to see the finished article.

However a couple of weeks ago we had one of those little diddy sewing machines come into the Reachout shop.....and the rest is history. I showed this card to the card class and they are all going to have a go on their 'proper' machines!!

Easter card for DT

and I went for CAS and pretty.
The challenge this week at Ruby's Rainbow Challenge is Lace.
I am always amazed at how I can get an idea from another blog and come up with a card that is so different from the one I first looked at.

This was a lovely card to make as it included so many of my favourite things...lace, beads, inking, pretty Backing papers. Mind you it was not easy trying to thread the very fine needle needed for the seed beads!

Card Supplies:

Card blank, beads, lace and paper from stash.
Ink for lace and card - Lavender Colour Box.
Whitecroft beading needles.

Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful week.

Pink and Brown....

one of my favourite combinations....and yet I never think to wear these colours together. I shall have to go and have a look in my wardrobe and see what looks good.

This card is for my Pastor and his wife for Easter.

That double bow really stretched me...I had a sleepless night trying to remember how to tie it!! I first saw it on Becca's blog. She had made quite a few tutorials on tying bows...her blog is wonderful if you want to visit. A few weeks ago she took all the tutorials off her website as she is now producing a bow maker with a DVD...I completely agree with her decision...but gosh it was hard!!! I am going to look into purchasing the DVD etc but postage costs may make that difficult.

An update on Mum's house move...she has had about 6 viewings so far which is very encouraging and she is decluttering her cupboards...well her version of it anyhow!!! ha ha

Card Supplies:

Card blank: Ollie Doodles, Costa Blanca.
Pink card and ribbon: stash.

Lots of rain...

but I have been snuggled up in doors all day. It started raining heavily at approx 1am and it slowed up about 3pm!!! Lots of flooding which must be really miserable for the householders.

I wanted to show my girls a little distressing this week so we all looked out men's images from old cards and recycled them...this is my attempt.

I really wanted to use up stash and recycle this week so supplies were from old necklaces, twine and all the backing papers and card were from my stash. The corregated card was from a pack of paper from Lidl I bought about 10 years ago!!

Challenges I would like to enter this week:
Cards for Men # 6 - Cheeky Chappies.
Ribbon Carousel- Baker's Twine

Been a busy week

but managed to make this card.
I bought the sheet of images ages ago and knew I had some lovely paper that would match it perfectly. I had a few less at my class this week but it meant we could play with the Bigshot...one of my favourite craft purchases! I spent ages wondering whether to buy it or not but I am so glad I did. I have had it for a few years now and wouldn't be without it. The main problem I have is getting hold of the dies as many companies don't deliver to Spain...or if they do they have extortionate postage charges.

Life is very busy at the moment. My dear Mum has decided to sell her house and move into a retirement apartment. It will be a huge transition for her as she leaves the house and town she shared with Dad for over 20 years, but we all know it is the right thing for her. Difficult enough selling a house but try doing it from Spain..ha ha I look forward to sharing some of my experiences in my blog!!!

This is my DT cardfor Ruby's Rainbow Challenge which is Lace.

Card Supplies:
Card blank Ollie Doodles.
Border using Spellbinders Triple Scallop Die.
Center using Marianne Die.
Bigshot.
Lace and backing paper from stash.
Bling from Papercellar.
Image from Buyology.
Greeting from Anitas.

My white and one other colour

card for Ruby's Rainbow Challenge is again shades of green.I am so keen on green now and gold too....a few months ago most of my cards were pink, blue or lilac...I hated green apart from in nature....these challenges do have an effect after all!!!

Card Supplies:
Card blank and ribbon from stash.
The die cut frame is from my crafting friend Jo.This is my first attempt at threading ribbon round a frame and I ampleased with the result.
The Magnolia image is coloured using ProMarkers.
Sentiment from Craftwork Cards.
I made the little ribbon flower using the left over ribbon.
Candi from Craftwork Cards.
I also drew faux stitching around the image and backing paper.

I am going to attempt to schedule this post as I will still be visiting family in the UK...hope it works!!

Thank you for visiting...I will catch up with you soon,

Black and Pink

look so fab together don't they! As I mentioned in one of my previous posts I treated myself to a Goody bag from Craftwork cards and this paper and image was included. It was one of those cards that just flowed and I have to admit to keep going back to have another look....do you do that with some cards or is it just me!!

I think it is a little different from my usual style but I am very pleased with it. This is also my first attempt at a double bow...it was surprisingly easy....although I will have to watch Becca's video to remember again.
I was also experimenting with the new (to me) border die cut from Spellbinders. I am off to sunny UK on Tuesday to visit Mum and Naomi and Grant.

Card Supplies:
Card blank and pink paper from stash.
Backing paper and image from Craftwork cards.
Ribbon tied with help from Amazing Paper Grace blog.

Exciting news...

I have been chosen to be a DT member of Ruby's Rainbow Challenge blog.

Here is my entry for their Challenge- Vintage. I wanted to make a card with my card class using decoupage and for a man...I think this fulfils both points. The class was a little smaller this week and I have to admit I found it much more relaxed and friendly. The ladies seemed to enjoy this card and quite a few asked if we could do another for a man next week!!! Sorry girls mybrain can only cope with one man's card in a month! I have promised them another one when I get back from my next visit to the UK.

Do you like the Candi...I have just made my first order to Craft works and I am smitten...they are so versatile. I love them...and the goody bag was extremely good value...I shall be ordering again.

A bit flowery..

for me but I couldn't stop once I had started. This card is also for the card class to show how to make the straight ribbon. I also wanted the girls to practice stamping with the background but I think it is a little too busy for my taste.

I want to send quite a few Thank you cards to various individuals and businesses that have helped the Reach out Centre and this is one for the Thank You Card box...it's a bit like a bouquet of flowers!!

I love the Woodware Christmas Flowers Punch...but sadly it decided to break after only a few weeks of use...and I was so careful about the thickness of card I used. I will therefore have to wait a few weeks before the class can make this card as I am waiting for a replacement punch.

Card Supplies :
Card blank, ribbon fromstash.

Butterfly - Buyology.
Flower - Woodware, L-Em.com.

Another post from me today...

I am on a roll!!!

I thought this card would prove quite easy for the girls...I couldn't believe how wrong I was...they nearly all decided they couldn't dry emboss using the Glitter Girls boards...and refused to have a go!!!! I had taken spare card for them to practice on but after the first one refused they all followed suit..apart from some of the more experienced ones. It was so funny...I thought about writing to the Glitter Girls and telling them!!!

Card Supplies:
Embossing board and tool - Glitter Girls.
Border - EK Success Arch Scallop.
Butterfly - Marianne Designs.
Bling - Papercellar.
Card blank and peel offs from stash.
Tumble dryer sheet to ease embossing.

First time I have used....

Flower Soft for ages.....and I had fun. I picked up some toppers for half price..I love a bargain...and experimented and came up with this card for the girls at the card class.

This super little heart was made by Naomi....her and Grant have been making molds and little charms which they sell on Ebay. I thought it looked perfect on this card.

Card Supplies:
Topper - katysue design.
Flower Soft - Sweet Pea.
Greeting - Daisy & Dandelion.
Card blank, ribbon and backing paper from stash.
Oval cut using deckle scissors.
Heart- Naomi xx

Are you brave enough....

to put your less favourite cards on your blog? Well here goes with one of mine!!!

I had this image and wanted to use it even though I was not that keen on it....but even though I used pretty embellishments it never felt quite right to me. However I know that who ever I send it to will be pleased with it.

Hope you have a lovely week crafting,I enjoy visiting your blogs and thank you for your encouraging comments,

Pretty in purple...

one of my favourite colours, and ages since I have used it.

Every week at my card class I like to try and introduce the girls to new tools or skills. Last week it was spirella, this week it is the use of border punches and ProMarkers. Some of the girls are now making cards at home but it is more difficult for them to buy materials here in Spain. Thank fully more of the internet stores are now dropping their exhorbitant European postage charges....I have to admit to getting cross when I order a die and they want to charge me 18 pounds!!!! I now use Joanne Sheen and Craft Barn who are brilliant. My only difficulty is getting good quality and paper...usually I have to bring it over with me in my suitcase. As I usually only travel with hand luggage it means I have to leave clothes behind!!!

Card Supplies:

Image and Greeting - Kan Ban.
Flowers - Woodware Punch Christmas Flowers.
ProMarkers for colouring. (Including the new glitter pens....lovely effect.)
Martha Stewart punch for border and corners.
Bling, Card and paper from stash.

Challenges entered :

It's a lovely day today

with hardly a cloud in the sky....it feels as if spring is in the air.
Spent the morning preparing for the class I run on Friday mornings. I teach girls (actually they are all retired apart from me!!) who have no experience to those with a little....and I love it.
I found some spirella shapes a few weeks ago and knew that the girls would love trying it....I can already hear the groans from some of them.
So often when I am showing them the card they are already saying, "I can't do that," but by the end of the lesson they are suitably surprised at how well they have done...I love encouraging women...so many of us have gone through life being told what we can't do..or that we are useless...I want to help turn those thoughts and ideas around...and card making and crafts of all types can acheive this.

Sorry for the flash on the photos but by the time I get home from the Reachout Centre the light has gone from the terrace.

I think the overall effect is quite classy and I would use this for both men and women's cards.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Pile it on # 2 : Manly cards.
Dream Valley : Anything Goes.

Card Supplies:
Card blank and large Spirella shape from LeCrea Designs.

A Happy New Year to all....

I hope this year is all you want it to be and more.
Terry and I had a really relaxed Christmas and New Year....we would loved to have had Naomi, Grant and my Mum with us...but we have got used to that now. I had a lovely Christmas day in the UK when I went over which was really special and it really didn't matter that the date was not 25th December...it was just like a Christmas should be!!

The opening of the Reachout centre has kept me very busy but I have managed a little crafting in the last few days.

In total I made 4 cards for the boys in the family...all very similar, just the girls to go.I do like to get all the Birthday cards done for the family at this time of year. It's a job ticked off my list and always seems to get me back crafting again after the holiday period.

Card Supplies:
Card blank, ribbon and the plain backing papers are from my stash.
The patterned backing paper was bought on a holiday to Canada.
The light blue paper is the inside of a business envelope!
The image is ages old and is a Magnolia Edwin stamp.
I coloured the image with ProMarkers.
Martha Stewart punch.
The new items are the very versatile candi from Craftworks...first time I have used them and I love them.

I would like to add this card to the following Challenges:
